Starlight Dance Academy - Summer Programs & Camps

Starlight Dance Academy, located on Route 910 in Cheswick, Pennsylvania (PA) serves the areas near Fox Chapel, Oakmont and Harmar
north east of Pittsburgh. The studio offers dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, Pointe, Tumbling, Fitness and Zumba
for children and adults. Dance classes are offered for pre-school children as young as age two as well as for school age children, teens and
adults. We aim to provide excellent dance instruction in a caring and supportive environment. Our positive, nurturing atmosphere allows every
child to shine.

Basic Summer Information
All classes, workshops and camps are taught by
professional dance teachers. All teachers have Act 33
and 34 clearances, and are professional adult artists with
college and/or professional training and performing
experience.

Space is limited in all programs, so please register early!
Pay no registration fee if you register by June 18, 2011!
Minimum enrollment is required for each program to be
held. Registrations received after June 18, 2011 are
subject to a $10.00 registration fee.

All programs require full tuition at the time of registration.
Cancellations made before June 18, 2011 will receive a
refund minus a 20% cancellation fee. No refunds will be
issued for cancellations made after June 18, 2011. If we
cancel a program due to insufficient registration, you will
receive a complete refund.

Snacks will be served at Princess, Fairy, Mermaid and
Zoo camps. If your child has food allergies, please send
a snack from home. Dancers attending Princess, Fairy,
Mermaid and Zoo camps must be bathroom independent.

Dress Code: Please see class descriptions for required
attire. All hair must be pulled up off the face and neck.
Jewelry is not permitted except for small stud earrings
(no hoops). Please label all personal belongings.
Starlight Dance Academy is not responsible for lost
articles.

Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and the like will enjoy
dancing, songs and stories. Learn to dance and
behave like a Princess. Make crafts fit for royalty. Ages 4-9

Thursdays 6:00-7:00 PM        July 7-28
Fridays 10:30-11:30 AM        July 8-29
A combination class consisting of Fitness, Jazz, Tap and Ballet. First 4 is
designed to provide pre-school students (ages 3-5) with a fun introduction
to all dance subjects. Ballet teaches gracefulness, poise and discipline
while Tap develops rhythm and counting skills. Fitness and Jazz build
strength, flexibility and coordination.
Required Attire: leotard, tights, pink leather Ballet shoes, black Tap shoes.

Thursdays 5:30-6:00 PM        July 7-28
Fridays 10:00-10:30 AM        July 8-29
A special 30-minute class designed to expose two-and three-year-olds
to dance and the classroom. Tiny Tutus focuses on coordination,
following directions, movement and stretching. Basic Ballet is also
introduced. Music and pretend allow your child to develop creativity
while improving balance and gross motor skills. This class is designed
for independent toddlers who can remain in the classroom without a
parent or care-giver.

Fitness & Flexibility Intensive (Ages 8-18)
Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 PM        July 5-26
This intensive class will concentrate on improving the strength and flexibility in dancers of all abilities.
Each week will focus on exercises and stretches designed to target muscle groups used specifically in dance.
Required Attire: leotard, stirrup or footless tights, bare feet

Lyrical & Contemporary Intensive (Ages 8-18)
Tuesdays 7:30-9:00 PM        July 5-26
This intensive will focus on freedom of expression through flexibility, strength, coordination and body
awareness. Dancers will work to portray the emotions within the music and choreography. Improvisation
and choreography will feature contemporary styles and technique relevant in today’s dance world.
Required Attire: leotard, stirrup or footless tights, bare feet or Lyrical shoes

Ballet Intensive (Ages 8-18)
Thursdays 6:00-7:30 PM        July 7-28
For dancers who want to improve in all disciplines, this class will focus on proper placement and fine-tuning
classical technique.
Required Attire: leotard, tights, pink leather Ballet shoes

Leaps & Turns Intensive (Ages 8-18)
Thursdays 7:30-9:00 PM        July 7-28
A fun and challenging workshop for all dancers, this class will focus on improving technique and execution
of dozens of leaps and turns. This class will review basics and progress to exciting and explosive
variations.
Required Attire: leotard, tights, Jazz, Ballet or Lyrical shoes

Available to all ages and abilities. Private lessons are tailored to the
individual student and can be scheduled in any subject. Call To Register!
Cost: $20 per half-hour lesson Summer Special: 10 lessons for $175

Come listen to enchanting tales. Wander through the

Meet our mermaid friends for an underwater adventure. Hear tales of hidden treasure, dance among the waves
and discover shimmering jewels. Ages 3-9
One Day Only: Friday, August 5th 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Snowflakes swirl and ice skaters twirl. It might be summer, but we are preparing for the holidays! Come learn
different dances all with a seasonal spirit. Students attending Camp Christmas will have the opportunity to
perform in our Holiday Shows in November and December. Participation in the performance is not required.
Performance information will be detailed to registered students in the fall. Although music and dances have a
Christmas theme, we welcome students of all beliefs to participate! Ages 6-18
Mondays & Wednesdays 6:00-8:30 PM August 1-17
Required Attire: leotard, tights, Jazz and/or Ballet shoes. Tap and Lyrical shoes optional.
