Starlight Dance Academy, located on Route 910 in Cheswick, Pennsylvania (PA) serves the areas near Fox Chapel, Oakmont and Harmar
north east of Pittsburgh.  The studio offers dance classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, Pointe, Tumbling, Fitness and Zumba
for children and adults.  Dance classes are offered for pre-school children as young as age two as well as for school age children, teens and
adults.  We aim to provide excellent dance instruction in a caring and supportive environment.  Our positive, nurturing atmosphere allows every
child to shine.

Our faculty is committed to offering the highest quality dance education. Our professionally-trained teachers create exciting
lessons which expose students to various styles within each discipline as well as different genres of music. Each teacher is
experienced in instructing dance classes which focus on proper technique and injury prevention. All teachers have Act 33
and 34 clearances, and are professional adult artists with college and/or professional training and performing experience.
Our faculty continues to refine their craft through ongoing training at professional workshops and teaching seminars.
Kathy Beiber, Artistic Director

Starlight Dance Academy, Inc. was opened in 1997 and is directed by Ms. Kathy Beiber.  Ms.
Beiber received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Duquesne University.  She has dance
training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Gymnastics and Acrobatics.  Ms. Beiber
has studied with many well-known dancers and choreographers throughout the North America,
including New York, Las Vegas, Canada and the Caribbean.  Her professional dance training
includes Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, STEPS in New York City, Broadway Dance Center, Dance
Educators of America (DEA), MusicWorks Unlimited, Dance Makers Inc., New York City
Dance Alliance, Dancers Inc., Shock the Intensive and Al Gilbert Dance Seminars.  

“Ms. Kathy” began teaching dance in 1989.  Besides teaching at Starlight Dance Academy and
other private dance schools, she has instructed dance workshops for local school districts,
churches, the YMCA, the Girl Scouts of America, preschools, daycares and private summer day
camps.  In addition to numerous recital performances and charity shows, Ms. Kathy has
choreographed productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella and Fame.  She also teaches Musical
Movement at Adat Shalom Pre-School.  

Under Ms. Kathy’s direction, Starlight Dance Academy students have had the opportunity to
study with many famous teachers and choreographers.  Ms. Kathy continues to work to provide
Starlight students with positive learning experiences.  She strives to make Starlight Dance
Academy a place for all children to learn, grow and shine.  She was awarded the 2010 Marjorie
Perry Spirit Award presented by Dance Makers.  The award recognizes dance educators who
show an outstanding love, dedication and enthusiasm for teaching dance.  Ms. Kathy teaches
Tiny Tutus, First 4, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Tumbling.  
Jamie Campbell, Teacher

Ms. Jamie Campbell joined our teaching staff in 2002.  Ms. Campbell trained as a performer at
Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.  Locally, she has trained with the Pittsburgh Civic Light
Opera.  Jamie has also studied nationally with the American College Dance Festival at the
University of New Mexico, and the National High School Dance Festival in Long Beach,
California.  

“Ms. Jamie” has danced professionally with a number of companies including the Pittsburgh
Civic Light Opera, the Mary Miller Company and The Slava.  She performed as a soloist at
LABCO’s Black Box Series, and has also danced professionally with Siren Dance Company.  

Jamie was the co-founder of 5:20 Productions which produced Soul of Hip Hop and Hip Hop
Showcase.  She also produced The End Is Now, a Pittsburgh-based tour which gives young Hip
Hop musicians and dancers a professional venue for their performances.  

Ms. Jamie has instructed classes for the Franklin Regional Discovery Program, the University of
Pittsburgh, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, the Pittsburgh city schools
Community Outreach Program, as well as other dance schools and organizations.  Ms. Jamie is
teaches Modern.
Janine Adams, Teacher

Ms. Janine Adams joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 2004.  Ms. Adams
received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Her professional dance
training includes Point Park College, David Howard Dance Intensive, Al Gilbert Dance
Workshops, Cicci’s Dance Workshops, MusicWorks Unlimited, Dancers Inc. and Dance
Makers.  

“Ms. Janine” has dance training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Modern and Ballroom.  In
college, she performed with IUP’s Concert Dance Company.  She has also performed Ballroom
routines for Arthur Murray.  

Janine has taught dance and musical theater locally in Cranberry and the North Hills.  She has
choreographed for dance recitals, college performances, musicals, talent shows and
competitions.  Janine has choreographed local performances of Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat, Honk and Seussical.  She has also coached and choreographed for
Ballroom competitions and talent shows.  Ms. Janine teaches Tiny Tutus, First 4, Ballet, Tap,
Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop.  
Amanda Newton, Teacher

Ms. Amanda Newton joined the teaching staff of Starlight Dance Academy in 2007.  Ms.
Newton received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University.  Her
professional dance training includes Dance Alloy Theater, Point Park University, Youngstown
State University, Moscow Ballet, Dance Masters of Ohio, Music Works Unlimited, Dancers Inc.,
The American College Dance Festival and numerous workshops and master classes.  

“Ms. Amanda” has performed professionally at many benefits, festivals and fund-raisers
including dArt Movement’s Décollage  Summer Dance Project, dArt Movement’s Brillobox
Fundraiser, Phipps Conservatory, and Squonk Opera’s “Pittsburgh:  The Opera.”  Amanda has
also participated in National Ballroom Dance Week, DC Tap Festival, Tapology Dance Festival,
Cleveland Tap Intensive, Fingerlakes Tap, Columbus Taps!, Steel City Blues Festival, and
National Tap Dance Day.  She has also competed in Swing Dance.  

Amanda was the former educational director at the Pittsburgh Dance Alloy Theater.  Her teaching
experience includes high school dance programs, other dance schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania,
and many community organizations.  She has choreographed dance and musicals for dance
schools, high schools, colleges, local events, weddings, and private organizations.  Ms. Amanda
teaches Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom and Swing.

Katie Koleno, Teacher

Ms. Katie Koleno joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 2008.  Ms. Koleno has a
Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University.  

“Ms. Katie” has dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap and Lyrical.  In college, she performed
with the Duquesne University Dance Company in Ballet, Jazz and Lyrical.  Katie has extensive
competition experience regionally in Pennsylvania and Ohio.  She has also given charity
performances for local nursing homes and community events.  

Katie teaches Tiny Tutus, First 4, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical.

Ms. Laura Greif joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 2009.  Ms. Greif has a
Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University where she
was also a Dance major.

“Ms. Laura” has dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and
Tumbling.  In additional to annual dance recitals, Laura has performed at many hospitals, nursing
homes and fairs.  She was a member of a competitive dance team for four years, and placed in
many regional and national competitions.  

Laura teaches First 4, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical.  
Melissa Tyler, Teacher

Ms. Melissa Tyler joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 2009.  Ms. Tyler
received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance with a concentration in Classical Ballet from Point
Park University. She has also studied at Studio Harmonic Ecole de Danse in Paris, France.  
Melissa dances professionally with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet

“Ms. Melissa” has dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary,
Partnering, Classical Egyptian and Bollywood.  She has performed in many shows including
Under Where?, Moonlight Sonata, Woodland Creatures, and the Pillow Project.  A Texas native,
Melissa danced with the Midland Festival Ballet in over 70 community performances.  She was
also an actress and dancer for Youth4Truth.  

Ms. Tyler taught at Coleman Dance Academy in Midland, Texas before joining the Starlight
Dance Academy teaching staff.  She teaches Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, First 4 and
Tiny Tutus.  
Maribeth Maxa
Kristen Pitt, Teacher

Ms. Kristen Pitt joins the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff for the 2011-2012 season.  A
native of Alberta, Canada, Ms. Pitt received her dance training under Desidario and Menina
Fortunato as well as at RNB Studios in Vancouver, British Colombia.  

“Ms. Kristen” has dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatics
and Musical Theatre.  She is certified in the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet training method
from Pre-Primary to Pointe.  Kristen has choreographed several musicals for SummerStock and
SentinelStage including Fiddler on the Roof and Footloose.  Ms. Pitt has worked as a competition
coach for several schools.  Under her guidance, her students have won numerous awards.  

Before relocating to Pittsburgh, Kristen taught at Alberta Dance Academy, Dance With France
and Kel Soloway Dance Arts.  At Starlight Dance Academy, she teaches Ballet, Jazz, and Hip
Hop.
