Our faculty is committed to offering the highest quality dance education. Our professionally-trained teachers create exciting
lessons which expose students to various styles within each discipline as well as different genres of music. Each teacher is
experienced in instructing dance classes which focus on proper technique and injury prevention. All teachers have Act 33
and 34 clearances, and are professional adult artists with college and/or professional training and performing experience.
Our faculty continues to refine their craft through ongoing training at professional workshops and teaching seminars.
Kathy Beiber, Artistic Director
Starlight Dance Academy, Inc. was opened in 1997 and is directed by Mrs. Kathy Beiber. Mrs.
Beiber received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Duquesne University. She has trained for
over twenty-five years in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Gymnastics and
Acrobatics. Mrs. Beiber has studied with many well-known dancers and choreographers
throughout the North America, including New York, Las Vegas, Canada and the Caribbean. Her
professional dance training includes Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, STEPS in New York City,
Broadway Dance Center, Dance Educators of America (DEA), MusicWorks Unlimited, Dance
Makers Inc., New York City Dance Alliance, and Al Gilbert Dance Seminars.
“Ms. Kathy” began teaching dance in 1989. Besides teaching at Starlight Dance Academy and
other private dance schools, she has instructed dance workshops for local school districts,
churches, the YMCA, the Girl Scouts of America, preschools, daycares and private summer day
camps. In addition to numerous recital performances and charity shows, Ms. Kathy has
choreographed productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella and Fame. She also teaches Musical
Movement at Adat Shalom Pre-School.
Under Ms. Kathy’s direction, Starlight Dance Academy students have had the opportunity to
study with many famous teachers and choreographers. Ms. Kathy continues to work to provide
Starlight students with positive learning experiences, and to make Starlight Dance Academy a
place for all children to learn, grow and shine. Ms. Kathy teaches Tiny Tutus, First 4, Tap, Jazz,
Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical and Acro/Gym.
April Belback, Teacher
Mrs. April Belback joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 1998. Mrs. Belback
received both her Bachelor of Arts and her Masters Degree in Secondary Education from
Duquesne University. Her professional dance training includes STEPS on Broadway, Dance
Educators of America, Dance Makers Inc., MusicWorks Unlimited and the Yough River Ballet
Academy. Her dance career has included training, performing, teaching, choreographing and
directing.
“Ms. April” has extensive experience in theater as well as dance. She was president of the
Duquesne University Red Masquers theatre group, as well as the director of both the Elizabeth
Forward High School Youtheater and the Robert Morris College Colonial Theater. Ms. April has
also worked with the Sherwood Forest Theater. April was the original choreographer for a new
musical “The Homeless” produced by The Summer Company. She currently teaches children’s
musical theater and choreography at The Grand Theater in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Belback is currently the high school dance team director at Belle Vernon High School. She
was the director of the Shaler High School Dance Team for three years. Ms. April has received
choreography awards from “NCA Superstars” and “Festivals of Music.” She also organized and
directed regional dance competitions through NCA Danz Association and Eastern Dance
Association. Ms. April teaches Tiny Tutus, First 4, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical and Pointe.
Jennifer Friedl, Teacher
Mrs. Jennifer Friedl joined the teaching staff of Starlight Dance Academy in 1999. Mrs. Friedl
has performing and teaching experience in dance, musical theater, modeling and pageantry. Her
dance training includes Point Park College, STEPS in New York City and numerous workshops
and master classes. She has also trained with Dance Educators of America, Dance Makers Inc.
and MusicWorks Unlimited.
As a performer, Mrs. Friedl has received several awards. She won the title of “Lil’ Miss
America All-Around” in 1994, and won the “Cover Miss” all-around in 1995. Her singing and
dancing skills got her dance leads in several local musical productions. She played “The
Temptress” in Jesus Christ Superstar and was cast as “Bette” in Oliver! Mrs. Friedl has also
worked as the “Dancing Easter Bunny” at Parkway Center Mall.
“Ms. Jennifer” taught Hip Hop Classes at the Beechview Library and for the City of Pittsburgh
Citiparks program. She has extensive experience in dance competition, and received a
choreography award from the “I Love Dance” competition. Ms. Jennifer has also done volunteer
work for school talent shows and the Girl Scouts. Ms. Jennifer is certified in Pennsylvania as a
children’s coach. She teaches Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip Hop.
Jamie Campbell, Teacher
Mrs. Jamie Campbell joined our teaching staff in 2002. Mrs. Campbell trained as a performer at
Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. Locally, she has trained with the Pittsburgh Civic Light
Opera. Jamie has also studied nationally with the American College Dance Festival at the
University of New Mexico, and the National High School Dance Festival in Long Beach,
California.
“Ms. Jamie” has danced professionally with a number of companies including the Pittsburgh
Civic Light Opera, the Mary Miller Company and The Slava. She performed as a soloist at
LABCO’s Black Box Series, and has also danced professionally with Siren Dance Company.
Jamie is the co-founder of 5:20 Productions which recently produced Soul of Hip Hop and Hip
Hop Showcase. She also produced The End Is Now, a Pittsburgh-based tour which gives young
Hip Hop musicians and dancers a professional venue for their performances.
Mrs. Campbell has been teaching dance for eight years. In addition to teaching at Starlight
Dance Academy, she has instructed classes for the Franklin Regional Discovery Program, the
University of Pittsburgh, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, the Pittsburgh city
schools Community Outreach Program, and other dance schools and organizations. Ms. Jamie
teaches First 4, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, and Lyrical.
Janine Adams, Teacher
Mrs. Janine Adams joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff in 2004. Mrs. Adams
received her bachelors degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her professional dance
training includes Point Park College, David Howard Dance Intensive, Al Gilbert Dance
Workshops, Cicci’s Dance Workshops, MusicWorks Unlimited and Dance Makers Inc.
“Ms. Janine” has over twenty years of dance training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop,
Modern and Ballroom. In college she performed with IUP’s Concert Dance Company. She has
also performed Ballroom routines for Arthur Murray.
Janine has been teaching dance for over ten years. She has taught dance and musical theater
locally in Cranberry and the North Hills. Janine has choreographed for dance recitals, college
performances, musicals, talent shows and competitions. She has choreographed local
performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Honk and Seussical. Last
spring, Janine coached and choreographed a student leader and faculty member from Deer Lakes
School District for their “Dancing With The Stars” show. Ms. Janine teaches First 4, Ballet,
Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop.
Amanda Newton, Teacher
Ms. Amanda Newton joined the teaching staff of Starlight Dance Academy in 2007. Ms.
Newton received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University. Her
professional dance training includes Dance Alloy Theater, Point Park University, Youngstown
State, Moscow Ballet, Dance Masters of Ohio, the American College Dance Festival and
numerous workshops and master classes.
“Ms. Amanda” has performed professionally at many benefits, festivals and fund-raisers.
Amanda has participated in National Ballroom Dance Week and National Tap Dance Day. She
has also competed in Swing Dance.
Amanda is the current educational director at the Pittsburgh Dance Alloy Theater. Her teaching
experience includes high school dance programs, other dance schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania,
and community organizations. She has choreographed dance and musicals for dance schools,
high schools, colleges and private organizations. Ms. Amanda teaches Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop,
Ballroom and Swing.

Katie Haberman, Teacher
Ms. Katie Haberman joins the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff for the 2008-2009 season.
Ms. Haberman has a Bachelors of Science degree in elementary education from Duquesne
University.
“Ms. Katie” has over sixteen years of dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, and Lyrical. Katie
was a former Starlight Dance Academy student, and has been trained as a dance teacher by Mrs.
Kathy Beiber, Starlight’s Artistic Director.
In college, Ms. Haberman performed with the Duquesne University Dance Company in Ballet,
Jazz and Lyrical. Katie has extensive competition experience regionally in Pennsylvania and
Ohio. She has also given charity performances for local nursing homes and community events.
Katie has been a teacher for three years. She teaches First 4, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz and
Lyrical.
Juliann Motosicky, Teacher
Ms. Juliann Motosicky joins the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff for the 2008-2009
season. She has a strong gymnastic, cheerleading and dance background.
“Ms. Juliann” has competitive Cheerleading and Gymnastic training. She also has dance training
in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Juliann is currently a student at Penn State New Kensington where she
was a cheerleader last year.
Ms. Motosicky taught Gymnastics and Cheerleading mini camps, and has been a substitute
teacher at a competitive gym. Juliann has choreographed routines for cheer and gymnastic
shows and events. She is skilled in implementing safe techniques and is able to spot students of
all ability levels. Juliann teaches all of the Tumbling classes.
Lauren King, Teacher
Ms. Lauren King joined the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff as a substitute teacher in
2005. Ms. King is currently finishing her bachelor’s degree at Duquesne University.
“Ms. Lauren” has over 18 years of dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and
Gymnastics. Lauren was a former Starlight Dance Academy student, and was an assistant to
Mrs. Kathy Beiber, Starlight’s Artistic Director, for many years.
Ms. King has performed in numerous recitals and community shows. Lauren has extensive
competition experience regionally in Pennsylvania and Ohio. She has studied with master
teachers from around the country. Lauren teaches Tiny Tutus, First 4, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz,
Modern and Lyrical.
Rachel Renock, Teacher
Ms. Rachel Renock joins the Starlight Dance Academy teaching staff this year. Ms. Renock
received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Slippery Rock University. Her professional
dance training includes Pittsburgh’s LABCO.
“Ms. Rachel” has over 16 years of dance training in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Tap and
Bharata Natyam. She received a dance scholarship to Slippery Rock University. In college,
Rachel performed with the Dance Theater Program. She also performed at the American College
Dance Festival and the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Ms. Renock has performed, taught and choreographed around the world. She taught American
Dance forms to students in Chennai, India, and performed in India’s International Dance Alliance
Concert. Rachel received an award for Outstanding Choreographer from Slippery Rock
University in 2007. Rachel is a certified Zumba instructor. She teaches First 4, Ballet, Pointe,
Tap, Jazz, Moder, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Zumba.
